"Hindi nila binasa."
Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino Chairman Arthur Cassanova and author Rommel Rodriguez say the commissioners who declared five books to be "subversive" did not go through the entirety of the works to verify whether these were actually "anti-government."
Cassanova, who was not a signatory to the order halting the publication and distribution of the books, said declaring the works to be subversive is already stepping on the boundaries of the freedom of expression and academic freedom.
Rodriguez, author of "Kalatas: Mga Kwentong Bayan at Kwentong Buhay," claims the commissioners might have chosen select words and interpreted them to be "subversive." The KWF order cited possible liabilities with the Anti-Terrorism Law, particularly Section 9 on inciting to commit terrorism.
