America is predicated on a fundamental ideal: hard work, from the assembly line to the corporate boardroom, should result in financial security, social respect, and a pathway forward. While this remains a proud and defining ideal, less than half of Americans today believe their children will enjoy a higher standard of living than they do. To avoid this outcome, Americans must focus on improved education systems and workforce preparedness, equitable employment and entrepreneurship, tools to manage debt and create wealth, and continued opportunities for advancement.
