The Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine exploded in 1986, causing the worst nuclear disaster in history.
The area within 18 miles of the plant is known as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and is considered too radioactive for human habitation.
The ruins include the abandoned city of Pripyat, apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, and more, all empty and deteriorating from decades of neglect.
High radiation levels still linger, requiring visitors to wear protective suits and limit time spent exploring the ruins.
Ghostly apparitions and unexplained phenomena are said to haunt the deserted ruins, the spirits of victims still trapped by the nuclear tragedy.
Despite the haunting aura, the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has become a unique wildlife sanctuary, with numerous animal species reclaiming the abandoned land, offering a glimmer of hope and resilience in the face of tragedy.
