Tough Decision for Pregnant Mom With COVID-19
Ruth González Esparza came to Denver Health for one of the most joyous occasions in a young woman's life: the birth of her baby. Shortly after her baby was born, she tested positive for COVID-19 and made the tough decision to give up her newborn for a month, while she went to the ICU to get better.
Esparza is now out of the hospital and holding her baby as she recovers from the virus and Denver Health staff gave her a special gift with the help of the Denver Health Foundation to support her and her family during this difficult time.
This video shows the emotional roller coaster Esparza and her family went through and her appreciation for the help she got from the team that took care of her.
Esparza gives thanks to Denver Health and has a message for her Hispanic community in Denver about how serious the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) can be and why it's still important to wash your hands and practice social distancing.
