Where is the Silver Coast, you might ask? Also known as the Costa da Prata in Portuguese, it's the west coast of Portugal, that runs from just north of Lisbon all the north to Porto.
The backstory: My family and I moved to Caldas da Rainha roughly a year ago. During our time in the Silver Coast near Caldas, we experience many things, had highs and lows, and ultimately decided that it wasn't the right place for us; ultimately leaving the Silver Coast and moved to the Algarve. However, just because it wasn't the best place for our family, the Silver Coast and Caldas could be a good fit for you!
This video provides all the reasons why Caldas may or may not work for you. I know a lot of American's are considering leaving the U.S. - America after the recent 2024 presidential election; and Portugal, specifically the Silver Coast, is a viable option as it has lower costs compared to Lisbon, Porto, and the Algarve.
Many people live near Caldas da Rainha, in areas such as Foz do Arelho, Salir do Porto, Sao Martinho do Porto, Obidos, Nazare, Nadadouro, Gaeiras, and Bombarral. Since Caldas is the largest city in this area, most people have to occasionally drive into Caldas for food, goods, or services.
