This the second of a two-part series of a dialogue: a political dialogue among politicians at the United Nations. The first dialogue focused on the environment - the problems facing the planet from deforestation, from ozone depletion, and from global warming.
The 46 members of parliaments from around the world first described the special environmental problems that their own countries were facing. The politicians then discussed what could be done to save the planet. They developed principles to govern future actions.
In this second part, the politicians turn to the question of peace. For millennia, humanity has been struggling to find a way of establishing peace on Earth among all peoples. Now, with the ending of the Cold War, the opportunities for doing so are greater than ever before.
