ISN rounds off Vuelta Valenciana with 11th place for Cimo.
- Dan Martin twice fourth in stages, and fourth in GC
- Cimo eleventh in final stage
After three fourth places in a row, Israel Start-Up Nation had a goal: a spot on the podium in the final stage of the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana.
It was not quite meant to be for our Italian sprinter. Fourth remained his best result (stage 3). Together with his teammates, he had to fight for positions, and before the last tricky turn, before the final straight, he was blocked on the left side of the road.
According to DS Oscar Guerrero, Cimo spent “too much energy in the last kilometer to be able to fight for victory.”
Dan Martin got himself, just like last year, a fourth place in the GC. “I am a little disappointed about that because I came here for the victory”, he said after the finish.
Guerrero is looking back on a good Vuelta though: “Of course we wanted a better way to finish this race, but we were close to victories and we maintain a good feeling.”
