In order to divide 10 by 3 (10 ÷ 3) we'll follow the process for division.
The general process for division:

4. bringing down the next digit (when necessary)

the Dividend is 10
the Divisor is 3
the Quotient is 3.333 (the 3's keep repeating)
Note that division is the inverse operation of multiplication. So we can check our work for 10 divided by 3 by multiplying the answer (3.33 with the threes repeating) times 3. If this equals 10 we did the division correctly.
