What does treatment for dysautonomia look like? We get asked this question a lot!
If you have been following us for some time you will see that treatment looks different for each patient, even if they have the same diagnosis.
Haley came to us for her first intensive treatment in the spring of 2021 and a second round of intensive treatment in December 2021. Each consisted of 5 days of treatment in which she was seen 3 times a day.
Both visits consisted of neurological rehabilitation but treatment did not look the same. During the first round of treatment she spent a lot of time lying flat and lying on an angle, with plenty of short breaks to allow her nervous system to rest. Her home treatments consisted of similar.
With consistent work at home and with her athletic trainer, Haley was able to progress to seated treatment for most of the second intensive week. During her second round of treatment we were able to increase the intensity and frequency of treatment and saw significant changes in her heart rate!
