The eruption, which sent lava fountains and smoke into the air near Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula, prompting an evacuation of the town. On Friday,A lava flow from Iceland’s Grindavik volcano is creeping towards homes and a popular geothermal spa. Grindavik, located near Reykjavik, had last seen volcanic activity on September 6. The Icelandic Meteorological Office confirmed the eruption at the Sundhnukagigar volcanic fissure.
