Professor Brohi talks about traumatic injury as a disease, deaths and disability from trauma and the need for research to improve survival and outcomes for trauma victims. Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death for people under the age of 44, and its prevalence and impact is rising globally.
Karim Brohi is a Professor of Trauma Sciences at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Queen Mary University of London), consultant Vascular and Trauma Surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, and Director of the North East London and Essex Trauma Network. He is also the lead for the Barts Centre for Trauma Sciences, a world class trauma research institute based at the Blizard Institute in London.
