In this episode of Beyond The Headline, the host Tamanna Inamdar will be discussing how the poll panel started talking to parties on Monday about the politically touchy topic of remote voting machines in light of the opposition parties' decision to oppose the Election Commission's plan. Rajiv Kumar, the chief election commissioner, will speak before the election watchdog shows the representatives of political parties how to use a remote electronic voting machine (RVM). The Electronics Corporation of India, a public sector organisation, has created the RVM, and EC has insisted that it will be a stand-alone system with no internet connectivity. A few panelists join us. “"We need to ask migrants if they really want Remote Voting. There is lack of clarity, we don't know what is remote voting," says Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner. “The country needs inclusive voting. Changing voter ID card from one constituency to another is a nightmare," says Shishir Bajoria, BJP.
