The South African government has deployed10-thousand soldiers on the streets,... patrolling alongside police to try and quell the chaos.
With the South African National Defence Force also calling up all of its reserve force,... around 25-thousand troops have started taking up positions throughout the country to end the weeklong unrest sparked by the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma.
Authorities say more than 22-hundred people have been arrested for theft and vandalism,... while 117 have died.
Many were trampled to death in stampedes when shops were being looted.
