The new Rolex SkyDweller with the Oyster flex strap is something I personally did not expect this year but I am also not surprised. For Rolex it was very easy play. Just put the rubber strap that has already been very popular with both the Daytona and the Yachtmaster on the the leather version Sky Dweller and wallah! When I first did a video talking about the new releases I really did not focus to much in this model because I thought it was a bit to bland. Now that I have it on my wrist I must say that I was wrong. This Oyster Flex strap was the last missing piece for the Sky Dweller puzzle. Since the SkyDweller has a much moire taller case opposed to the Daytona and the Yacht Master I tend to feel that it is a perfect match for the Oyster Flex due to the winglets that cause the strap to fit raised on the wrist. This tall case helps to balance the look out. The previous leather strap version did appear a bit big head at times, where as now with the rubber its is perfection. One of the best things that they added was the Glide Lock clasp that functions like a Submariner and allows you to make adjustments to the band size on the fly. I feel that Rolex should just add this feature to every model. Retail price is approx $41,000 and makes you wonder if it is worth paying the extra $8,000 and just getting the full gold bracelet instead.
Overall the look is great and especially with this rose gold and Rhodium color dial. For me this is the best looking combination. My final conclusion is that I like it but wonder if they should have kept the leather strap as an option and not discontinued it.
