Opening this box was like unwrapping a bright and shiny present
I infuse my water ALL the time, so I was really excited to try this carafe. Up till now I would always just drop the fruit straight into the water. Simple, but potentially messy, not to mention ending up with floating pieces in the bottom of my glass.
Opening this box was like unwrapping a bright and shiny present. Such a pretty red. This really is, not only functional, but also a beautiful piece. It is easy to assemble and easy to use.
There are a couple of things to note when using it though. Not drawbacks so much, just things that helps to know.
1) Make sure to leave room for the center infuser part to displace water. The angle where it pours out can be deceptive as to how much to fill it. I found filling to the top of the handle where it attaches was good.
2 As you can see from the picture, if you want the fruit to infuse, you need to keep it covered in water. To keep all the fruit under water, you need to fill it to about an inch under where it screws on.
3) The carafe is made of BPA free plastic. To the die hards, glass is the only option we should consider. But, if such plastic works okay for you, this is a really pretty nice way to pour yourself a refreshing drink....BUT...I would be still be wary any pouring boiling hot water into it. This might not work well with many types of teas. If you have a root or bark based tea, you might still need to infuse with hot water in pan, and then it cool a bit, before pouring into the container.
4) As with any plastic, unlike glass, it does look like it could scratch easily.
Overall, I am very pleased with this container and like it very much.
