FOOD PORN ALERT! Me and my friend, Ray went around Indonesian capital, Jakarta to eat delicious food for our dinner.
This is my first english review, so please bare with my english, was so nervous!
Ray recommended me this place, Rumah Makan Seulawah , in Benhil Area. Located near the business district in Jakarta. This place serves a good range of Aceh cuisine. Aceh is a region in the northern part os Sumatra, Western Indonesia.
Aceh food, is very spicy and full of flavour, and we simply loved it.
We ordered:
1.Nasi Goreng Kambing Aceh / Goat Aceh Fried Rice
The rice is very fragrant, the colour is kind of redish, and a bit spicy in flavour. I love how the spices blend perfectly with the perfectly cooked rice. Not too wet, as i like it. The meat was tender, similiar to beef rendang in texture. Very yummy.
2. Mie aceh goreng/ Fried Aceh noodle
The main dish. This noodle is very chewy and gooey. I love how the sauce is very thick. Kind of textured like peanut sauce. The flavour is damn complex, the range of peppers and spices are so rich. The combination of the aroma, blown me away!
3. Shark Meat Curry
The fish tasted like regular fish actually! The sauce is not that creamy, very flaky and solid dish! Worth to try! I think it is okay to eat the meat, but not the fin though! Do not support the fin farming!
The total cost was about $8 or IDR 102.000!
SEULAWAH ACEH RESTAURANT
Jl. Bendungan Hilir Raya No. 8, Central Jakarta
After dinner, we walked about a 5 minutes and found this beautiful coffee shop. It is called GoedKoop. The theme of the coffee shop is Dutch. The decoration is very old school, like the 1940's Indonesian Dutch Colonial houses.
1. Coffee Latte
Solid coffee, nice foam, and cool process!
2. Ice chocolate
Very thick creamy looking and solid chocolate flavour! Love the freshness of it. Not too sweet and just nicely balanced.
3.Banana and cheese Panekook
Dutch style Pancakes! Shaped like pizza and sliced like pizza as well! Loved how the bread is very thin and smoky, also smells nice!
The banana is kind of melted, which is nice and creamy. The cheese didn't overpower the pancake. Loved it!
Total cost is about $7.5/ idr 95.000

Overall i love Aceh cuisine a lot as they are very rich in flavour, and the combination of ingredients are just mind blowing! Recommended very much!
