On 19 July 1747, 40.000 French soldiers, leaded by the Count of Belle-Isle attacked the Piedmont position (7.000 soldiers) on the top of the Assietta.
After the day, the French lost 6.400 men while the piedmonteis lost only 219, and the battle was won.
To commemorate this victory, David Michelin-Salomon composed the song (this is just the instrumental one).
Carlo Emanuele III was the king of Sardinia at that time.
