This New Year's Eve again because of the coronavirus the South Korean capital will not hold an in-person bell-ringing ceremony at Bosingak Pavilion which normally draws tens of thousands of people but will instead hold an event online.
Seoul Metropolitan Government said on Sunday that it'll be a pre-recorded event with 14 bell-ringers, including Squid Game actor O Yeong-su and archer An San , who won three gold medals this year at the Tokyo Olympics.
The bell-ringing was held online last year too, but this time the online platform will have features giving the viewer a closer look at the pavilion itself and a chance to ring the bell themselves.
It'll be broadcast on the city of Seoul's official YouTube and Facebook channels starting at 11:30 PM on New Year's Eve.
