Paying close attention to your snakes behavior and health is an essential trait of a responsible keeper. I realized about a year ago that this snake was not pooping. Blood and short tail pythons are notorious for holding back their waste, but upon inspection I discovered this animal was impacted with urates. Normally these would be a paste like substance, but sometimes they develop into hard, rock like objects that are difficult for the snake to pass. This video shows me massaging the urates through the cloaca.
This procedure is not to be taken lightly and can cause serious damage to the snake if rushed. Please do not attempt this at home. A warm water soak may be all your snake needs to get things moving. If you feel your animal is impacted consult a reptile veterinarian.
