There are no rules saying that you have to varnish a painting, but just look at the difference between the first shot and the last shot! Not only does varnishing add a fabulous finish to a painting, but it also stops you from the painful cycle of thinking you haven’t actually finished and you need to add more paint! 🤣 Don't forget too that varnish will help to protect your painting from the elements, so really it's a win all round! If you haven't tried varnishing yet, give it a go on a small painting and see how you get on, I think you'll love it :-).
