[ Ссылка ] New Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti said on Thursday that the European single currency's future will be partly decided on how Rome deals with its economic woes.
Monti told the Senate he wanted to cut Italy's debts and public spending, warning that failure to do so could cause chaos in financial markets.
"The future of the euro depends also on what Italy will do in the next weeks: Not only, but also. The international investors own nearly half of our public debt," said Monti during an address in Italy's upper house of parliament.
