Louis B. Nabors, MD, professor, University of Alabama, Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center, discusses the evolving treatment landscape for patients with brain metastases. Physicians mainly relied on neurosurgeon and radiation for the last few decades, with limited systemic therapy options.
Today, there is an increasing amount of systemic therapy options, says Nabors. These therapies have clearly demonstrated activity in metastatic disease in the central nervous system (CNS). Research continues to focus on further developing these opportunities to better deploy systemic therapies in these patients.
