Jayadev was born on 24 march 1966 in Diguvamagham, Chittoor.His father is an industrialist who founded the Amara Raja Group. His mother Aruna Kumari Galla is a former MLA from Chandragiri
constituency and was a minister in the Andhra Pradesh state government for several years.
Aruna Kumari is married to Dr. Ramachandra Naidu Galla, an industrialist and founder of Amara Raja Group of Companies . and She has a B.S. in Computer Science from Lake View College. She worked for the Chrysler Corporation as computer programmer and departmental head for Management Information Systems in the sales division.
She was also the MLA for Chandragiri constituency from 1989–1994,1999–2014 and Health Education and Insurance Minister . he was responsible for creating the universal health programme, Aarogyasri. She also held the ministry for Roads and Buildings during second term of Congress government . Aruna Kumari wrote several novels in Telugu.
Jayadev Galla grand father Paturi Rajagopala Naidu was a freedom fighter, close associate of Acharya N G Ranga and a former Indian parliamentarian.He studied politics and economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana.
Jay married Padmavathi Ghattamaneni, daughter of prominent Telugu film actor Krishna on 26 June 1991.They have two children Siddharth Galla and Ashok Galla. He is known to be very close to his brother-in-law, Telugu actor Mahesh Babu.
Jay worked as an international sales executive at GNB Battery Technologies in USA. On his return from the United States in 1992. He is One of the wealthiest politicians in India, Galla declared assets of 683 crore (US$100 million) in the 2014 general elections.
In 1992, his father Ramachandra Naidu Galla started looking at automotive batteries as viable business. He took over as the managing director of Amara Raja Batteries in 2003 from his father. He has been trying to get into the steps of his mother by entering into politics. He contested 16th Lok Sabha election from the Guntur Constituency in Andhra Pradesh and won with a big margin.
Galla Jayadev has established a number of charitable trusts. They include the Krishna Devaraya Educational & Cultural Association, which provides educational scholarships to poor students in higher education.And He is provides another Trusts also. Rajanna Trust and Mangal Trust, these are providing accessible water supplies to villages.
Jay had joined the business after earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois.In college he started out in engineering but shifted to political science and economics when he decided to move back to India. Jayadev Galla took over running the family battery business from his father in 2003, he felt a shock.
