Kevin was just 13 when his dad died and he went off the rails, running with a gang in his neighbourhood. He was kicked out of school and, aged 15, he was charged with possessing a knife and a machete. But the difference in Kevin now is nothing short of inspirational. He had the chance to go to South Africa and did community work with kids from shanty towns. It made him realise he wanted to do more to help young people.
When he returned to Glasgow, he got a job as a trainee youth worker with community outreach project FARE – Family Action
in Rogerfield and Easterhouse – and now works to support others caught up in gang culture. He graduated from college with an
HNC and is now in his second year of a community development degree at Glasgow University.
