Highlighting factors like increasing customer demand for EVs, reduced production costs, and lower GST rates on electric vehicles, Gadkari stated that the call for subsidies is no longer justified. He also pointed to declining battery costs as a major contributor to EV affordability, noting that lithium-ion battery prices have fallen from $150 per kWh to around $107-108 per kWh. The government is expected to launch the FAME-III scheme within the next two months, with a projected budget of INR 10,000 Cr to INR 12,600 Cr.
