Vegetarian Street Food Festival! Chinatown Bangkok 2022 #shorts

The annual Vegetarian Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Thailand.
In Bangkok, the most popular place to celebrate the Vegetarian Festival is Yaowarat (Chinatown).
The celebration takes place on the 9th lunar month of the Chinese calendar.
In 2022, the celebrated dates are September 26 - October 04.

Yaowarat Road is the main road running through Chinatown. During the Festival, the street is closed to through traffic, and the road is filled with roughly 150 food carts, stalls and shops serving Thai and Chinese Vegetarian food and drinks, including one of my favourites, Thai Iced Tea.
Yellow flags and banners span the width of the road, adding to the lively celebratory feel.
All food was delicious, sour mango with spicy dipping sauce, pancakes filled with taro, and doughnuts served with soy milk and sweet pearls drive my insulin levels to the roof. What a feeling!
We saw street musicians as well as money-hungry dragons. I was keen enough to dispatch the dragons by telling their handlers “mai mee tang” or “I don’t have money”. It’s all in good fun.
I was fascinated by the sounds I heard, with all of the cooking and bargain-making going on. Treats frying in oil, the clanging of spatulas and tongs, TukTuk exhaust, and wonderful bits of conversation can be heard. A few people were interested in showing me what they were eating, and explaining to me what they were selling (what it was made from, and what it was not made from). I find that folks are happy while eating their favorite foods amongst other people enjoying the same. I really like capturing this activity, its attractive and interesting to me.
In making this video, I made an effort to identify the food, and research recipes and ingredients.

AUDIO:
In order to create true binaural sound, we use a professional-grade binaural field mic, recording in 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution with two omni-directional phase-accurate microphones. One mic is used for the left channel and the other one is used for the right channel. This recording creates the full-fidelity volume as used in #asmr .
