Day 3 of our Ireland Trip was Saint Patrick’s Day in Dublin Ireland! We started out the day watching the Pattys Day Parade and it was a huge letdown. It was way too crowded, so much that we could barely see anything, and besides the first responders and marching bands, the floats were all very odd and tactless. I would absolutely skip the parade next time I’m back in Dublin for Pattys Day. We had an appointment that we made the day before for the Book of Kells, and what a mesmerizing experience it was to read about the book of kells and enjoy the Trinity College Library. Before our pub crawl in dublin we filled our bellies with lunch from UMI Falafel and then started to grow our Guinness count. We stopped at M.J. Oneill, The Stags Head, Dame Tavern, Sweeney’s Bar, Doyles, Mulligans, J.R. Mahon’s and O’Neills. The standouts were The Stags Head where we enjoyed a shot of Jameson early in the day, Mulligans where we met lots of new friends and good Craic, and J.R. Mahons with a live guitarist/vocalist who played every sing along you could ask for. By the way Craic means good conversation/fun/enjoyable social activity. We wrapped up our night with a quick dinner at Nando’s, most places had stopped serving food by that time, and overpriced ice cream at Murphy’s. The big question is, did we do Patty’s Day in Dublin the right way. What are your thoughts? What did we do right and what did we miss out on?
