Boston's MBTA has come under fire recently following several safety related incidents, From runaway trains on the Red Line, to a train going up in flames on the Orange Line. The agency has made national headlines for all of the wrong reasons. On August 19th, 2022, The Orange Line shut down for thirty days so that crews could make 5 years worth of repairs and upgrade the existing infrastructure. As a result of this unprecedented closure, around 200 buses from across the Eastern United States have commendeered the streets of Boston. These buses are mainly motorcoaches being used as free shuttle buses. While free to the public, the MBTA has partnered with A Yankee Line, inc. for up $37 Million in replacement bus service during the shutdown. While many were uncertain about the service disruption, I wanted to see how bad, or good this rail replacement shuttle service really is!
