Military guns are fired at the Tower of London on the stroke of 3:00 pm local time to mark the start of Prince Philip’s funeral service, taking place at Windsor Castle, and the start of a minute's silence observed across the country. Saluting batteries fire two rounds, one at the beginning of the minute's silence and one to mark the end of it. Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, died eight days ago at the age of 99.
