Yesterday, E-3D Sentry ZH101 returned home to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. The E-3 flew its last operational mission in RAF service last week and now they sit at RAF Waddington awaiting to be retired by the end of this year. It is believed that this was the final flight of this type in RAF service.
The E-3D will be replaced in 2023 by three E-7 Wedgetail aircraft. They will be based at RAF Lossiemouth.
