This is what Sinead O’Connor said during one of her first interviews after converting to Islam in 2018 at 52 years old and changing her name to Shuhada Sadaqat.
The celebrated Irish singer & musician passed yesterday, 26 July, at the age of 56.
Speaking to chat show host Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show on Ireland’s RTE channel in 2019, she described becoming Muslim as “coming home” after years of reading spiritual texts in her search for truth and peace.
The Irish singer, best known for her cover of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, is also known for having vocal left-wing politics, including condemning child abuse in the Catholic Church, and supporting Palestinian rights and boycotts of Israel.
