This is the first in a series of lessons I've entitled "Standards for Jazz Guitar". In them I first teach you the main single line melody to a chosen standard, followed by a detailed harmonic analysis. After this I demonstrate how I go about and harmonize each note, concluding with a chord melody arrangement you can play! And in case you're wondering, unlike my fingerstyle chord melody lessons for solo guitar, these are much simpler and can also be performed in a combo setting.
If you want to understand how jazz harmony works, as well as what scales to employ in order to improvise over your favorite standards, there is a lot you can learn here!
For the first episode I have chosen a popular 12 measure standard. I am referring to "Solar" by Miles Davis. And believe me when I say there is a lot to learn within this short tune!
