Normally the symptoms of PCOS is the patients usually presents with irregular periods. Most of the periods come with scanty periods, delayed periods, irregular periods, intermenstrual spotting sometimes and there are conditions in extreme cases where there is absence of periods which we medically call as amenorrhea. Apart for menstrual disturbances there are excessive hair growth on face, pimples or acne on the face, there can be infertility the female is in the reproductive age group and she is trying for pregnancy and she is not able to conceive, many at times she presents with difficulty in conceiving, excessive weight gain and sometimes there is dark patches in the back of the neck, which is the sign and symptoms of excess insulin in the body. Sometimes emotional stress, mood swings, irritability, also can be seen in these patients. So this is how we see the symptoms in the initial stages. But there are certain people who are not aware and not taking treatment for polycystic ovaries. In chronic stages, when there is no treatment, these patients can later on can have some cardiovascular problems there can be diabetes, we can present with endometrial cancer, so there is a range of symptoms seen in PCOD patients.
