Micronesia, Kosrae — Three men pound the Sakau plant to a pulp on a traditional pounding stone to create the mildly narcotic drink Sakau. It takes hours of rhythmic pounding to reduce this plant and extract the juice. These men have pounding Sakau outside my window for the past week. Today I asked if I should shoot this video while they worked. I am here as a U.S. Peace Corps Response Volunteer. -- Eric Muehling
