So, the second time I went to Basel, I saw an activity I had never seen before. People just... floating down the river... and I thought to myself: "I'll do that one day".
They all had dry bags in which I assumed they had their clothing for when they would come out of the river. So, one day I finally got a layover in Basel and went down to the river with a co-worker, got in the river, cursing every moment of it because of how cold the water was, and finally, we just started to float down the Rhine and it was a very blissful moment.
Word of warning, don't float too far cause, the German border is not that far lol!
(FYI, I've also saw people do the floating thing in the Aare river that crosses the city of Bern)
