The Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama has welcomed the G77 and China's support for Fiji's presidency of COP23.
The largest bloc at the United Nations, the G77 and China is a coalition of developing nations, designed to promote its members' collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the UN. Today the current Chair, Ecuador, expressed on behalf of members their full support towards Fiji's presidency of COP23.
At bilateral talks held today in Bonn, Germany between Prime Minister Bainimarama and the Chair of the G77 and China, discussions looked at ways that both parties can work closely with each other to produce a successful COP.
Prime Minister Bainimarama will officially assume the presidency of COP23 on 6 November in a ceremony at the World Conference Centre in Bonn, Germany.
