Meet the new style Turkish "Midye Baklava" :) This design is very popular nowadays in Turkish Sweet Shops. It has "kaymak" cream filling with walnuts. You can make it with pistachios or hazelnuts. Actually hazelnuts would work great too for this recipe. We are going to make these sweeties from scratch. I am sharing all the details on how to be successful in making it.
Ingredients For Midye Baklava
1 tbsp (25 gr.) butter
1 tbsp grape vinegar
1 tbsp plain yogurt
1/2 egg (wish lightly and add half of it)
4 tbsp vegetable oil
6 tbsp water
about 2+1/2 cups all-purpose flour
For the "kaymak" semolina cream filling:
1+1/2 cup whole milk
4+1/2 tbsp fine semolina
1 cup ground hazelnut, pistachio or walnuts
For the syrup
2 cups sugar
1+1/2 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
