Why did King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Solomon's Temple ? In the 6th century B.C., the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II, fearful that the Egyptians would cut off the Babylonian trade routes to the eastern Mediterranean region known as the Levant, ( Israel) invaded and laid siege to Jerusalem to block them.
During the First Temple period (1200-586 BC), the First Temple was built in 1000 BC by King Solomon after King David conquered Jerusalem and made it his capital. The Temple was destroyed in 586 BC by Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, when he conquered Jerusalem. This was the time of King Zedekiah, the last king of Judah. He decided to withdraw tribute from the Babylonian Empire, despite being installed by them. In the retaliation for the rebellion, Nebuchadnezzar 11 laid siege to Jerusalem and destroyed the Kingdom of Judah, approximately a year.#shorts #ancienthistory #bible #nebuchadnezzar
