India has about 480 km of coast line out of which Odisha covers almost 95 km of east coast. The entire coast line was safe up to few years back. But today, it has posed eroding effect at many places in India. We too have witnessed the fury at many occasions at Satabhaya & Pentha in Kendrapara district, Siali in Jagatsinghpur district, Konark and Puri beach in Puri district and Podampet, Gopalpur, Rameyapatna of Ganjam district. Places like Kirtania and Talsari of Balasore have also started showing the eroding effect of the bay of bengal. The reason is mostly for human intervention and climatic change. Climatic changes are again manmade in many ways. Now time has come for the awareness of the people to act accordingly before the shoreline changes become uncontrolled.
