Award winning Spinnaker Park was officially opened in 2001 by the Gladstone Ports Corporation, the park has become the premier recreation area of Gladstone City.
Two and a half kilometres of educational walking tracks along the ocean wall, through native wetlands and ponds makes the park excellent for walking, riding or rollerblading. The beached cove is wonderful for a dip on a warm day while the barbecue and picnic areas make it a great place to entertain.
The grassy areas of Spinnaker Park are fantastic for barbecues, picnics, birthday parties, events and more. Sheltered seating areas and public amenities are provided for visitor's convenience.
The Gladstone Marina is a modern complex for yachting and boating activity. With 320 mooring berths, a combination of fixed wharf and pontoon moorings, the Gladstone Marina moorings can cater to private, charter and service vessels.
HMAS Gladstone (FCPB 216), named for the city of Gladstone, Queensland, is a Fremantle-class patrol boat, formerly of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Built by North Queensland Engineers and Agents during the early 1980s, Gladstone was commissioned into RAN service in 1984.
The patrol boat spent most of her career operating out of the naval base HMAS Cairns on fisheries and border protection operations. The ship's company were granted Freedom of the City of their ship's namesake city on three occasions.
Gladstone was decommissioned in 2007, and was donated to the Gladstone Maritime History Society for preservation and display as a museum ship at the Gladstone Maritime Museum. Work was postponed due to the Financial crisis of 2007–2010, with preservation work and development of a wet dock to display the ship completed in 2016. The vessel is now available for tours on weekends. The vessel is located in the Gladstone East Shores precinct, adjacent to the Gladstone Marina.
The East Shores precinct spans along Flinders Parade and includes a water play park, waterfront boardwalk incorporating a viewing platform, barbecues and an abundance of green, open space to play. The water play park is open from 9am till 9pm during the hotter months (and till 6pm in the cooler months).
