I may be biased, but this is the best caramel cake recipe around! I use a salted caramel frosting recipe that makes this cake combo just melt in your mouth! This easy caramel cake recipe will set off any holiday party! I use an old-school caramel recipe by boiling and cooking my sugar on the stove for the perfect consistency! This cake caramel or caramel sauce is smooth and buttery... and will have everyone begging for more!! A homemade caramel cake is always a HIT!
Cake Recipe
2 Cups Cake Flour
1 TBSP Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 Cup Unsalted Butter
1 - 1/2 Cups White Sugar
3 Large Eggs (separated)
1 TBSP Vanilla
1/2 tsp Butter Flavor
1 Cup Buttermilk
Bake on middle rack at 325 degrees for 18 - 20 minutes or until the toothpick is clean. (Cake will be lightly golden) Immediately remove the cake from the pans to begin cooling.
Do NOT COOL IN CAKE PANS. We want a moist cake - we don't overbake.
Caramel Frosting Recipe
1 Stick of Butter
1 Cup of granulated sugar
1/3 Cup light brown sugar
1 Cup of evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
Melt butter on low. Add granulated sugar approx. 1/3 cup at a time until combined. Add brown sugar and stir until bloom. Add evaporated milk and stir until the spoon is coated.
