In the first of our Banking & Finance Academy sessions of 2024 we looked at project finance transactions – how they are structured, the key participants and documentation used as well as future trends in the project finance space.

Speaker Biographies
Ben Powell
Ben has over 15 years' experience in project finance, with a wide range of experience across the renewable energy, transport, education, health, defence and housing sectors. He has advised on and shaped many key project models and structures including a number of innovative and bespoke structures where new solutions to infrastructure delivery have been applied, often in tandem with multi-disciplinary teams.
Ben acts for clients across all levels of the project finance supply chain in the private and public sector, and on funding to and beyond financial close and into the operational lifetime of infrastructure assets. Ben's long-standing involvement in the Scottish projects market means that he is sought out to advise on end of project lifetime issues and their funding implications.

Thomas Horton
Thomas acts for clients in a variety of transactions including project finance, real estate finance and other general banking transactions. He also has experience working on cross border transactions.
Having worked with a broad spectrum of clients, from small SMEs to major clearing banks, Thomas has a strong understanding of what matters to clients and delivers straight forward and practical advice.

Fiona Hunt
Fiona qualified as a solicitor in the Banking & Finance practice in September 2023.
Fiona has a particular interest in energy and infrastructure finance, having gained extensive experience in the projects, infrastructure and construction sectors during her traineeship.
