The Pearl of Tajikistan - Lake Iskanderkul
("Iskander" - Alexander, "Kul" - Lake)

The lake, located in the amazingly beautiful Fan Mountains of Tajikistan, has a rather rich and long history.
It is believed that it was named in honor of the commander Alexander the Great.
But this is just part of the assumptions. In fact, the lake existed here even before Alexander the Great came to these places. According to some reports, it had the name Iskandar, which literally translated as "a lake of high water".
The uniqueness of the lake lies in the fact that it is the largest in the mountains and is located at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters.
