Key is a Japanese visual novel studio which formed in 1998 under the publisher Visual Art's. Their debut game was Kanon which was highly praised. After Kanon they released Air in 2000, Clannad in 2004, Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume as their shortest game shortly after, then a Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life as a spinoff of Clannad in 2005, and Little Busters! in 2007. Little Busters! Ecstasy was an extended version of the original Little Busters! which added 3 more heroines. In 2010 they created a Little Busters! spinoff called Kud Wafter. As of writing this, their latest game was Rewrite which was released in 2011.

Kanon, Air, and Clannad have all received adaptations into anime by both Toei and Kyoto Animations. Toei made Kanon into a 12-episode series and the other two into films, while KyoAni made them into series which were truer to the original plots of the visual novels.
Little Busters was adapted into an anime by J.C. Staff that started in October 2012.
