East Lancashire Railway
Autumn Steam Gala 2024
Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October 2024
A three day festival of steam on the East Lancs. The event featured three star guest visiting locomotives in the form of Furness Railway No. 20 (courtesy of the Furness Railway Trust, normally based at the Ribble Steam Railway), Andrew Barclay No. 1969 ‘J N Derbyshire’ (courtesy of the Beet Family and Community Care Boiler Services) and British Railways Single Chimney 9F 92134 (courtesy of the Self Family and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway).
The event featured an intensive timetable with express and local steam hauled trains, including banking and on Sunday Demonstration Parcels Train.
The home fleet joined in with the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway LMS liveried pairing of Pug 19 / 11243 and Tank 752 / 11456., LMS 3F Jinty 47298, converted Husnlet Austerity 2890 Douglas and Southern Railway 4-6-2 34092 City of Wells.
With Furness 20, the oldest standard gauge steam locomotive and the 9F one of the last built standard gauge locomotives.
