STORYLINE:
Pennsylvania election workers have begun recounting ballots in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate that remains too close to call since last week's voting.
Roughly 900 votes separate the two leading candidates – celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick.
Oz has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
At least seven counties — Bedford, Clinton, Crawford, Lehigh, Montour, Tioga and Warren — had planned to begin Friday.
Most other counties will begin next week.
Some counties were still counting remaining votes from last week's primary election.
The winner will take on Democrat John Fetterman in November.
McCormick's campaign, meanwhile, has been waging a fight in court to scrounge for votes that might help him close the gap with Oz.
Oz, the Republican National Committee and the state Republican Party oppose McCormick's effort.
