James Kalm dogs the Bushwick neighborhood and tries to bring his worldwide audience along for the adventure. Johnson Avenue has become a mini strip of large gallery spaces that represents the new direction of art presentation in Brooklyn. For this round robin tour, we start with a painting insulation by Calvin Marcus at CLEARING. Composed of thirty-nine, eight and a half by seven and a half foot paintings titled ”Were Good Men”. Then we stroll down the street to Signal and catch a snippet of the dance performance “Drill” by Madeline Hollander. This duration performance is based on dancers acting out the emergency exit procedures listed in airplanes, movie theaters and museums. A small group of drawings and ceramic sculpture by Aidan Koch is presented in the back gallery. Finally we stop in at Present Company for a glimpse at “Ambient Occlusion” with sculptural works by Clive Murphy, photographic pieces by Zachary Norman, and an architectural intervention work by Sonya Blesofsky. This program was recorded on September 217, 2016 in Bushwick Brooklyn
