With the push-pull concept, tooz enables producers oder manufacturers of planar waveguides to offer slim and prescription-corrected lenses. Based on the established push-pull lens concept, the tooz optical platform allows a wide diopter range for vision correction.
In the first step, a spectacle lens design is sliced lengthwise to create a push and pull lens. The planar waveguide is then inserted between these two separate lenses.
Without the push lens, the AR content is projected to the viewer at an infinite distance. The optical power of the push lens defines the target position of the virtual image relative to the real environment. As the positive power of the push lens increases, the target visual plane for the AR content moves closer to the wearer.
In the second step, an individual pull lens is added. Without such a pull lens for visually impaired users, everything appears blurry. Even without vision impairment, only the foreground and AR content appear sharp, while the background appears blurry. Adding a custom pull lens ensures a corrected view for both the AR content and the environment at the same time.
