A video of a wild elephant stranded in the middle of Chalakudy river for three hours in Kerala is now going viral. After several hours of valiant attempts, the elephant managed to get close to the forest on the other side. The river had started overflowing due to the opening of shutters of Peringalkuthu dam amid heavy rains. In several videos going viral, the tusker can be seen stuck on a small piece of land for several hours, as the river raged around the animal which has stymied rescue attempts by forest officials, who had gathered at the spot close to the Athirappilly water falls.
