A few words for the speaker Mrs. Tony Maha Evagelopoulou was born in Athens. She studied Psychology in Greece, United States and France. She has worked in the legal department of the National Organisation of Employment in Greece, as well as in the department of mental health of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. She is the founder and director, for a 15 consecutive years, at the center of Pre-school and School Education. She specialized, in Paris, in the Center of acoustico-psycho-phonology (Tomatis method) and worked close with Alfrend Tomatis. She attended seminars and conducted researches correlated to the acoustico-psycho-phonology. Since 1987 she runs the Center of acoustico-psycho-phonology , part of the Tomatis Center in France, in which the diagnostic and therapeutic Tomatis method is applied.
A few words for the professor Tomatis Alfrend Tomatis was born in 1920, in Nice. He studied Medicine in Paris and he specialized in Otorhinolaryngology and Phoniatrics. He developed the method of acoustico-psycho-phonology, also known as the Tomatis method, a diagnostic and therapeutic method which develop our ability to hear and communicate. In essence, he proved that a conscious hearing and comprehension of the sounds of human speech has a substantial effect on our mental balance and our physical health. In 1953 he presented his research, called “Effet Tomatis”, to the French Science Academy , according to which “ the voice consists only of the frequencies and the harmonics heard.” We speak and we sing with our ear.
